When I moved recently, I found several medals that I won in the old annual NISBOVA competitions. Mrs. Bendt was on my mind, and I was sorry to hear of her passing. She was my piano teacher for four years in the late 70s, and I have fond memories of playing with her little dachshunds, Penny and Sandy. Belated thanks to Mrs. Bendt for helping to make me who I am. Angela

I just learned of Mrs. Bendt's passing. Though over 50 years have passed since my last piano lesson with Mrs. Bendt, I still remember her vividly and with great fondness. At an early age I developed great appreciation for the arts which in no small measure was attributable to my piano lesson days at her home in Gary. I pray she maintained good health through the balance of her life and her family will be blessed with her inspiration and memories forever. Thank you for making a positive difference in my life Mrs. Bendt!

I have memories as far back as my childhood that will be with me for the rest of my life. Family holds onto memories and little glimmers of them pop up unexpectedly from time to time and are met with a smile. I'll miss her phone calls at Christmas time each year and hearing her voice with a hint of excitement. May God bless you and keep you in His loving arms my dear aunt. May God comfort Dave and family, Rob, and Randy during this time of grief. I wish I could be there in person to say good bye but life life holds challenges that prevent me from being there with you.

Rob, Randy and Family, Your mom was such a great friend to my parents, Richard and Dorothy.  In Dad’s last years, he was very cheered by the frequent visits Rob and Ms. Charlotte made to him.   May you all find Joy and solace in your memories of your Mom.

We will all miss Charlotte's presence at the hospital, where she liked coming for lunch with her dear son, Bob. My last memory of her is of her coming up to me in the cafeteria and asking for a prayer for her intention. May she enjoy eternal joy and peace in the presence of God.

I am sorry to hear about Mrs. Bendt’s passing. She was an amazing piano teacher who always put on the best recitals.  She was a sweet woman who made learning the notes and music enjoyable.  My deepest condolences to your entire family.🎹🎼
Denise Johnson Ramos left a message on September 15, 2019:
Mrs. Bendt was a significant person in my life as I was growing up.  I will never forget the piano lessons and the recitals.  All my siblings were trained by her.  When I started a family of my own, one of the first things my husband bought me as a birthday present was a baby grand piano.  I had visions of my children playing the piano as I did (even though I was never very good) and having a teacher like Mrs. Bendt.  She has left a lasting impression in my life.  My best to her family.
